I know you are surprised by the title but some of you know that I just attended Visions ’11, a fabulous conference regarding window treatments and interior design. I spent three full days taking classes, and perusing soft and hard goods within the industry in Las Vegas. If you ignore the flashing lights and cha- ching of the machine you will see that Las Vegas is the King of Interior Design. I especially loved looking through the Cosmopolitan and the Aria. I even got to pretend I was a biker chick by posing on a Harley for Helser Brothers Inc., a window hardware company.
Architectural Digest calls him “Today’s Tastemaker”, Timothy Corrigan is one of the Top 40 Interior Designers in the world. I was privileged to hear him speak. We saw his portfolio of work from Europe, Dubai, and the states that featured his luxurious window treatments. His work was fabulous and I drooled every time he mentioned his chateau in France. His first client was Sarah Jessica Parker.
Kathryn Ireland was the featured speaker for one of the luncheons. Her style was very different from Timothy Corrigan and it was nice to see that the world of interior design is so varied. She was quick to point out that she “is not” the famed swimsuit model however the first person she did interior design for was Steve Martin! It was great to see her work and I did purchase her book, Summers in France. I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of her book before she jetted off to Copenhagen.
Tips and Tidbits:
The purpose of window treatments are to protect furniture and art from sun exposure and fading. They also have insulating properties which can translate into you saving money on energy! Stay tuned for the next blog about Las Vegas where I reveal . . .
